I don’t know about you, but after a hard day, I need some self-love affirmations to get me through the rest of it. And I figure for a lot of us, Valentine’s Day is a time when that’s highlighted more than any other day of the year.
We often put a lot of effort into loving and caring for others, but over time, that can become a drain on us if we don’t take the time to show ourselves that kind of love and attention too.
There are lots of different self-love techniques, but I find affirmations to be the simplest, most accessible way to show myself some love no matter when or where I am. So I wanted to spread that love to you too!
What is self-love?
Self-love and self-care have become major buzzwords over the last few years, but what do they mean? Contrary to what you see on social media, it doesn’t mean spending hundreds of dollars on designer bags and eating a bucket of ice cream. It means showing your body and mind the love and respect they deserve.
This can happen in man healthy ways depending on what feels right for you. But in the end, it’s meant to help your body relax, ground, and feel more at peace with and grateful for everything going on around you.

Self-Love Affirmations
If you’re new to affirmations, that’s ok. It does feel a little crazy to talk out loud to yourself, but it’s so important. We have one mouth and two ears which means whatever you say, you hear it twice as loud. Your ears hear what your mouth says. So even if you’ve been having negative thoughts about yourself all day, the power of speaking positivity out loud will help erase them. It will also help rewire your brain to help you think more positively about yourself.
Start with saying one or all of these affirmations out loud for 1-2 minutes each day, and then gradually move up from there. Even if you don’t agree with them now, it’s important to speak the ideal version of yourself and will it into being.
I let go of negative self-talk and negative thoughts about myself.
I love the person I am becoming.
My body and mind are healthy and help me achieve great things.
I am beautiful, strong, smart, and deserve all of the good things that are coming my way.
I love myself more and more each day.
P.S. If you feel like you’re always around people and it’s just too crazy for you to talk out loud to yourself (I’m from a big family, I get it), I find that saying affirmations in traffic or while I’m on a run is really helpful.
