2019 was a big year of growth for me. Maybe more growth than I was comfortable with, but that’s how you know it’s working, right?
One of the big decisions that came out of this period was deciding that I wanted to learn an entirely new skill set while still engaging with marketing in a renewed way.
The new skill set I began pursing is front-end engineering. I realized that I work side-by-side with engineers all day, but I don’t really understand what they do or how my seemingly minuscule changes could affect them. Not to mention I was feeling a little burnt out of the swirl that marketing can sometimes become when we overthink ourselves. So I signed up for Code Academy.
I love it! So I wanted a space that could evolve with me and my skills over time. I was previously using the wordpress.com platform which isn’t friendly for customization. SO I finally moved to wordpress.org and decided to start again.
So if the look and feel of this site changes from time to time, please know that it’s with the best of intentions to give you a better user experience and to help me strengthen the skills I’m learning.
As for my renewed relationship with marketing, I decided that I want to help entrepreneurs, business owners, and general marketing enthusiasts learn how to market with purpose. Have you ever noticed that when you share content, launch a campaign, or do something else that was borne of much stress and negative vibes it tends to not do as well as you’d hoped? Or if it does do well, you’re somehow emotionally affected by it?
The energy we put into our work has a huge impact on how it’s received.
Beyond that, marketing is an imperfect science of creativity, data, and gray space in between. Because of this, it’s really easy to overthink and second guess ourselves. So I want to provide you with tools to get organized, plan ahead, and find a healthy “work-life balance.”
I know the buzzword “work-life integration” has been flying around and if it works well for you, that’s fantastic. But if you ask me, that’s just another way to say we’re all actually on-call 24/7. It leaves little room to truly unplug and be present with your friends, family, or even just yourself. So my hope is that by giving you some of my time to put these materials together, you’ll get some of your own time back.
Please feel free to comment or message me on Instagram with topics recommendations and questions you have. I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for all of us!
