The last year was a doozy for most of us, and it continues to deal blows week after week. But the world is finding a new kind of normal with each day, and that is a norm of flexibility. For the most part, I’m a Type A person, but this last year I stepped back from all of my projects, reevaluating what was really important to me. I picked up one too many new hobbies, but for once I finally let some things go in order to make room for what actually brings me joy.
As a result, this blog will evolve a bit. It will still be around topics involving both mindfulness and marketing, but with a less rigid flow.
I aim to continue providing you with interesting, helpful information that you can digest in about 5 minutes, even if the SEO algos ding me for it.
In that spirit, while this is a “hi again” post, I also want to provide you with some food for thought. It’s the concept of sitting with change and learning to be okay with it. As I said, our “normal” changes every single day, and that can be really hard if we try to figure out how we feel immediately after hearing a new piece of news.
So I encourage you to practice this whenever you get the chance:
When you hear a new piece of news, a new regulation, or something else that feels like whiplash, be ok not having an opinion about it for a few minutes. It’s hard because we’re human and we have emotional responses to everything; it’s how we’re wired. But try just sitting with the information and not reacting for a few minutes.
The goal of this exercise is to remind ourselves that we are not our emotions, and we are not our thoughts. We have both of those things, but by choosing not to let them affect us, even for one minute, we gain back control over them.
I hope this helps you find some peace in your intense moments and that it helps you feel more clarity.
